Nuno Battaglia
Mr. Battaglia manages the investment activities of Zions Hospitality Investments. He is former Managing Director at Leucadia National Corp (NYSE: LUK), an $8 billion evergreen value fund focused on distressed opportunities, where he was responsible for acquisitions, divestitures, and management of portfolio assets in North America, Europe, Russia, SE Asia, Africa, and Latin America. His activities included the acquisition of a majority stake in the world's largest title insurer; an investment in an Indonesian oil & gas concern; oversight of two Asian value opportunity funds; the formation of a Florida property & casualty insurer; financial leadership of a $450 million California real-estate developer; strategic leadership to a $320 million New York property & casualty insurer; and management assistance of the world's largest fully integrated bottling operation, headquartered in Moscow, Russia. In joint venture with Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE: BRK.A), he assisted in the $11 billion workout of Finova Group Inc., one of the largest bankruptcies in US history.
Mr. Battaglia is founder, shareholder, and former CFO and Director of HealthEquity, Inc., the largest non-bank trustee of Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) in the United States. In 2007 he was interim CFO to DynamicCity, Inc., which he helped sell to PacketFront AB.
Mr. Battaglia received BA (cum laude) and MBA degrees from Brigham Young University, where he was designated a Cook International Scholar and a Hawes Scholar, the highest distinction from the Marriott School of Management.
Joel P. Sybrowsky
Mr. Sybrowsky leads the development activities of Zions Hospitality, the most active developer of Marriott properties in the Intermountain West. He also manages his family's portfolio of hotel investments, which includes the Salt Lake City Downtown Courtyard by Marriott, the Salt Lake City Downtown Residence Inn by Marriott, and the Provo Courtyard by Marriott.
Mr. Sybrowsky is founder and former Executive Vice President of DynamicCity, Inc., designer, builder, financier, and operator of a $180MM consortium of 14 municipalities and North America's largest open-access fiber-optic network. DynamicCity was sold in 2007 to PacketFront AB, based in Stockholm, Sweden. Prior to DynamicCity, he was the co-founder of Management Dynamics, a provider of web-based solutions to libraries and educational institutions in the United States and Canada. The company was acquired in 2001 by Baker & Taylor, the world's leading book wholesale and distribution company. Prior to Management Dynamics, he was a sales executive at Dynix, Inc.
Mr. Sybrowsky is involved in various civic and non-profit organizations, including the Utah Valley University Library Board, the Lucina Foundation, and Boy Scouts of America. He received BA and MBA degrees from Brigham Young University.
